Lester Young s complete broadcasts from the celebrated Royal Roost Jazz club in New York, 1948-50.The tenor saxophonist performs most of these tracks in quintet format, including Jesse Drakes on trumpet and Junior Mance, piano plus Kai Winding, Alan Eager and Ella Fitzgerald as guests on a couple of jam-session like tunes.
Bonus is the soundtrack to a rare New York TV show recorded in 1949, and this double CD is topped off with a live quartet set from Frankfurt, 1956
